Membership Application

The Benton Franklin County Medical Society offers five member types:

Active Member, $225 ($115 for your first year of membership)
To qualify as an Active Member:

  • Hold the degree of Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy, or Bachelor of Medicine which has been issued by an institution accepted by the Washington State Board of Medical Examiners;
  • Is currently licensed by the State of Washington to practice as a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or is practicing in the State of Washington with a federal waiver;
  • Maintains a practice or resides in Benton or Franklin County or in a neighboring county if it is more convenient to attend the meetings of BFCMS;
  • Abides by the principles of medical ethics as defined by the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) and the American Medical Association (AMA) or the Washington Osteopathic Medical Association (WOMA) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA);
  • Does not practice or claim to practice any school or system of sectarian medicine or healing.

Active-Limited Member, $105
To qualify as an Active-Limited Member:

  • Active- Limited Members are qualified for active membership and limit the practice of medicine to less than twenty hours per week. An active-limited member shall have all the rights and privileges of an active member.

Retired Member, $105
Retired Members have been a member of the Society or of another component Society of the AMA/AOA or WSMA/WOMA for at least twenty-five years and has retired from active practice.

Physician Assistant Member, $105
To qualify as a Physician Assistant Member:

  • Has graduated from an accredited program which is approved by the Washington State Board of Medical Examiners;
  • Is currently licensed by the Washington State Board of Medical Examiners;
  • Practices or resides in Benton or Franklin Counties or in a neighboring county if it is more convenient to attend the meetings of BFCMS;
  • Abides by the principles of medical ethics as defined by the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants or American Academy of Physician Assistants

Medical Student & Resident Member, no cost
A medical student, resident or other physician who is in training in an institution accepted by the Washington State Board of Medical Examiners.
