Membership Benefits

We are stronger when united. Benton Franklin County Medical Society (BFCMS) unites local physicians and physician assistants of all specialties and practice settings and provides you with valuable tools to support you in practice.

“Membership in BFCMS has provided me with the warmest interactions with colleagues and executive staff that I have experienced in my career.  Members are from all over the area and we relate like family is supposed to.  There have also been many fascinating presentations at the meetings.  I hate to think of all I would have missed had I not joined.”  Otolaryngologist, Member since 1985

We are a stronger healthcare community when we work together, and the Benton Franklin County Medical Society is your top local resource. In addition to the other benefits listed below, we are excited to announce a new program for 2022, The Business of Medicine: Survival Essentials for Clinicians.

We believe this business didactic series will be great value to you in your daily practice whether  in an employed model or  private practice. Topics that will be addressed include:

  • Transitioning from employee to employer
  • How to determine the financial value of your practice
  • How to determine your personal worth to the institution or future
  • Financing your new practice
  • The art of negotiation
  • And more!

These are examples of what we intend to offer, and are in alignment with the Society’s new objectives to equip our providers with real life tools for financial and professional success.

As always, your membership also offers:

Legislation and Advocacy
BFCMS has a close relationship with the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) and our local legislators which allows us to educate and influence our representatives when medical issues affecting your practice are debated and voted on in the state legislature. BFCMS is also represented in the Washington State Medical Association’s House of Delegates, where policy is established for the year. Additionally, we represent you in our community with groups such as the Benton Franklin Community Health Alliance,  Health Access Team and Greater Columbia Accountable Community of Health.  These committees address such community concerns as COVID updates, ED over-use, and access to care in our community.

We remain the only neutral forum where physicians from all practice settings can come together with other physicians for business and social purposes.

The BFCMS office receives numerous calls from patients needing a referral for a new physician of help finding a specialist. We provide referral information for our member physicians only.
